As I understand it, there's a legendary dragon missing half its body, so it fuses with reshiram and zekrom. I don't think general fusion will enter the series, and I'm not sure it'd be well-received. What I think would be cool though, is for varying physical characteristics among pokemon. It has this for male and female for most pokemon, but what if even two males of the same pokemon had a slightly different appearance? What if breeding a pokemon with a certain pokemon would produce an offspring that looks slightly different than if it were bred with a different pokemon? There are a lot of possibilities here, and they don't even have to go beyond aesthetics. It honestly feels like the developers have grown complacent with the success of the franchise and consequently haven't really bothered to evolve it.

That is actually a very good idea overload, but I think there options would be kind of limited to develop that- it would probably take a lot of work to get many different variations for all 650 pokemon.
Anyways, I know the game has been released now- anyone know if there actually are pokemon fusions?
