I'm sitting here looking at a pile of new and old consoles, headsets, joysticks, speakers and monitors and I'm trying to come up with a quick tally of how much money has gone into all this. Now everyone has a hobby they spend money on and at least this one keeps me out of trouble  , but I got to wondering how much the average gamer spends on his or her toys. Any rough estimates?

We have almost 20 grand in our living room right now to get the best system to play video games on...scratch that the best system we could afford. Now we didn't get it all at once but the overhead projector and the sound system are probably the bulk of the expense. God only knows how much we have spent over the years before we finally found something we were happy with.
My hubby and I get made fun of all the time because of the set up we have and we don't have cable or a smart phone. We choose to spend our money on our hobbies and not on other things. We never need to go to the theater either because we have one at home.

I haven't been to a theater in many years - I don't like the kids kicking the seats, the people talking on the phone or discussing their love-lives while I'm trying to get into the movie. I have a raggedy old prepaid TracPhone, so I'm not into fancy gizmos either. We all have our vices that we have to support!

Hmm... Well over $10,000 NZD in a rough estimate.
I have a whole heap of consoles and a whole lot more games to back it up so there's probably easily $10,000 just by the games and consoles on their own.
As for TV's and all that... Well, I'd rather not delve into that category.

well, considering I got most of my games as gifts, I personally haven't spend that much on games.
But overall I would say that if you were to add together all the original prices of my games and consoles, the number would be substantial.

Most of my games and consoles I got for birthday or christmas, so I haven't spend much of my own money. If I had money I would have, but I'm an unemployed student, so I don't get any money. XD Though if I added up the cost of all my games and consoles I've had over the years, it be many hundreds or even thousands of dollars. :O

I've received alot of my games, consoles and gaming accessories as presents during my Birthday and Chirstmas so I'm not really sure how much they all cost but I would guess my collection would be around £500? Just a quick guess and I don't really have any intention of selling anything even though I only play 1 game regularly.

I just have one xbox 360, two controllers, a dead island headset, and 100 games. And those have been collected in the 4+ years that I've been playing regularly :) Last year I sold almost 1000€ of worth of games. I bought a new one, played it through and sold it for more than I payed for  I didn't use the online codes so they went fast :) _________________

Considering just PC and Steam games, I have dished out at least $200-300. Including consoles, that amounts to at least $400-500.

I don't think I could ever guestimate to be honest how much has been spent on all the consoles and games that I have :) I would think though that I am probably well into the 1000's by now though with how much I have spent over the course of time. It is true what they say, gaming is a great hobby to keep you out of trouble but it's an expensive one :)

I don't keep track XD I do know I probably have 200-300$ worth of games right now and I even got the 250gb 360 for a steal during black friday last year.
