Visuals & Graphics..The graphics in Fable 3 aren’t as great as they could be and for a game that was only released in 2010 on the Xbox 360, it gives off an older vibe, even whilst playing on a HD television. In standard definition, it’s quite tough to be able to distinguish enemies from shadows especially in the later times of the day.
Alternatively, the cutscenes are very well rendered and the starting scene does rope you into the game fairly quickly. However, I get let down by the rest of the game being a lot more less defined than it could’ve been. The characters are well defined and the environments are quite nicely rendered as well with more hills than you would find in other standard RPG games.
In short, the environment and the characters are nicely animated and rendered, but the buildings and the faces of the buildings could’ve been less… rushed.
Visuals & Graphics Rating: 7/10Achievement Difficulty..Most of the achievements aren’t hard to obtain and you get most of them by just playing through the game once. Other achievements tend to be there for rather comical reasons and aren’t really hard to achieve either. Some will require some dedication towards obtaining, but it’s usually more grind-type achievements above all else.
Achievement Difficulty Rating: 8/10Story Mode / Campaign Difficulty..Story mode isn’t challenging at times and it’s rather boring if you play it co-operatively with a stronger companion. The enemies really don’t pose much of a challenge when your spells never burn out of mana and your pistol’s reload time is pretty fast no matter what firearm you carry. So really, the only thing that ends up occurring is that your spells will be spammed so much that anyone within a respective radius will receive a magic overdose.
The enemies hardly pose a threat either. It seems their main intent is to swarm you similar to the Darkspawn in Dragon Age: Origins and overcome you with their superior numbers but when you spam spells that prevent them from getting close at all, it does eventually end up being boring.
The added weapon of the pistol or rifle means that you have three different weapon styles to use to destroy enemy hordes and apart from a 2 second reload animation, the pistol and rifle means that it can be a great ranged partner to your spells. So your sword only ends up being a decoration on your character’s back half the time.
Story Mode / Campaign Difficulty Rating: 8.7/10Game Depth & Navigation Details..The storyline isn’t horrible, yet it isn’t so great either. It is a typical RPG type storyline that even includes your character growing and maturing throughout the game as you make various decisions whether it be good or evil decisions. But moral choice however is usually fairly blurred in video games since what the person deems as the “good” moral choice to what the game deems as the “good” moral choice can be strikingly different. But Fable 3 does its best to overcome that and makes it very clear for you to determine which decision is which.
There’s a plot twist in the game however that does make Fable 3 starkingly much more different from other RPG storylines. It’s a bit of an odd plot twist but it does manage to pull it off rather well.
However I do feel that the ending could’ve been better.
Storyline Depth & Navigation Details Rating: 8.2/10Value For Money..Fable 3 is a relatively fun RPG game and it is humourous but does require times of maturity.
There might be replay value to it but it dims in comparison to the replay value of other RPG games like Dragon Age. The replay value would be better, in my opinion, if you could’ve chosen how your character looked. The default character isn’t too bad looking, but playing through the game over and over with the same character’s face can make it a bit boring which is where Dragon Age trumps fable 3.
