What do you prefer in a story? Long or short? Personally I like anything under 5 hours, anything over that I get bored and can't get into it. That's why I like Call of Duty, on the easy level I can complete them in 4 hours, but I can't complete Assassin's Creed or GTA.

I prefer longer storylines. Mostly because the game developers have put more effort into making a better overarching story. I'd prefer a longer storyline over a better supported multiplayer any day.

I've always been a fan of multiplayer based games so that said I like a detailed yet short campaign. I don't like sitting down and committing myself to hours of story so I'd rather play multiple short games. Short story line for me.

It really depends on the content of the story. Some games can really feel like they're dragging on but be of an average length, some are just so engaging they can run you along for days.
I like a story that lasts but doesn't drag on.

I like a little bit of both. It would all depend on what mood I was in that day and wanted to get into.
I like the short term games only for the graphics and the fact that most of the time it's full of in your face action. This is nothing to brush off IMO. COD and others like it are very good at keeping my attention for quite a few hours but unfortunately they lack content and a good story line that hasn't been done over hundreds of times by FPS games. For this I tend to get bored with them pretty quickly now days.

I also like the long term games for being able to feel like you get to know the characters and their abilities and what not. Being able to build their weapons or character skills is an amazing concept (even if it has been done since the 80s). I understand going into the game that I'm not going to finish this game over a cup of tea and I might as well put on something comfortable because I'm going to be there a while. Yet, the best part about these types of games is the amazing ability to save your game and come back to it later. If I get bored and want to play another game or just go watch paint dry, I know I can always come back and pick up right where I left off.

It all depends as well. If it's an interesting game that keeps you on suspense, I would prefer a long storyline because it gives you the ability to enjoy the game a lot more. If the game is dull, then a shorter storyline would definitely do.

When playing RPGs I definitely want a long story, as you continue playing on in order to see the end of the story. But at some FPS games, such as Call of Duty, I did not even start the campaign and I only bought the game for multiplayer gaming. If you make a long story, then it better look realistic.

I prefer stories that are in the middle. They're not too long, but they're not too short either. I like a detailed story, but if they're too long, they can get really boring. A short story line with little details is just annoying.

I love a longer story. It gives me plenty of time to play a game, plus it's less expensive than buying a whole bunch of short games, huh?

Definitely longer. If you are buying something for $50, you want to use it as long as possible. Since I love story modes, a game that has a long one is even better. Plus, you won't have to get new games for a while.

I prefer shorter ones, I don't have the stamina for long games and I get bored easily.

Longer. But not with basic shooters. Then it's better if it's a bit shorter. But games like Bioshock, Fable 3, GTA IV, Borderlands are games that I mostly enjoy. A lot to do :)

I guess it depends on how good the story is, I hate it if the story is just dragged along and you are doing aimless stuff but if it is a great storyline then I would pick long because I find it a better experience.

I prefer longer stories as long as they're not TOO long. I don't want something I'll be done with in a couple hours, but I don't want something that will take me all year either, because then I'll just get bored of it. If I'm paying for a game I expect it to have a decent length story.

I love long campaigns that have a deep meaning. But if the campaign is boring, I chose a short campaign. Gears of war 2 has a fairly long campaign, but it's so hardcore, and has an amazing back story it is worth it.

I prefer longer stories, but I don't like them if the game has been made so hard that it's a struggle to complete it. I like a fair mix between long storyline and the ability to progress through it without repeatedly getting stuck at certain points.

I like the longest story modes.
You take more time and get a more in-depth gameplay.
Assassin's Creed's and GTA's stories were the best for me.

And with those two games it takes even longer as you do all the side things and just run around the map :)

Especially when you have to do some side jobs/memories before you get back to the main story.

We all know why that is, due to some competition that's going on.

Anyway although I like longer games, if there is a short game I prey that it has an awesome multiplayer to make up for it.
