Metro 2033 imo. The storyline is unique and it does encourage you to do exploration at your own risk. And it captures post-apocalyptic settings and survival horror pretty well.

Mass Effect 3 - whilst the ending has been slated, the story is unparalleled by anything out there currently in my honest opinion, and it's the first game (Barring Gears of War 3, to an extent) to capture me emotionally in a game.

Ugh.. I wanna so say WWE Here Comes The Pain, but it was on PS2. LOL

The Mass Effect games because you choices change the game play and you get to carry your character through all three games. You also get interesting interactions with the other characters.

Grand Theft Auto games have always impressed me with their thorough campaigns. They're very lifelike and actually are one of the few campaigns I don't mind playing. I also enjoyed the story mode of Fable but it got repetitive. One of the other good campaigns I loved: Zelda - The Ocarina of Time. :p

Halo 2 was definitely my favorite as far as story modes. It was the first time the series really fleshed out on that scale if you don't consider the books.

Crysis 2 is the game of whose I liked the story very much. It is a classic game in which we have to save the earth from aliens. I liked it because I like high graphic games and first person shooting games very much ans this all things were there in crysis 2.

GTA games usually, in my opinion, carry the best story modes. You can understand whats going on even though more than one event is taking place at once.

I really liked the story mode of Call of Duty 4, although in the later two in the series the campaign went down, in the first one I loved the campaign, played it many times.

I'm going to have to bandwagon with all the GTA people on here. I think the GTA story is the best. It's the most realistic and it's really fun to play. No story is more fun than GTA for me.

Assassin's Creed's story mode is more than awesome.
It just takes you on a whole new level of gaming.
I just love the fighting, the graphics, the killing, the assassinations, and so on.

I hate to agree with everyone but I would say that GTA has the most appealing story mode. there was parts of Saints Row: the third where I found to be very good as well though.

Assassin's Creed and GTA stories are much better than any other stories in my opinion.
Much better story and much more in depth than other games.
